Back to Bruce’s for our dogs

The back-to-school season is looming and it’s not just our kids that need to get back into a routine. Some of us may be heading back to the office and which means it’s back to Bruce’s for our dogs. We’ve got some great top tips to prepare your dog for a pawsome Autumn at Bruce’s.

Gently ease into a routine

Dogs are creatures of habit and thrive on routine.

As we return to work and school, it’s important to remember this change may be unsettling for your dog, especially after having their human family around all day every day over the summer.

Booking regular doggy day care at Bruce’s means your dog will have their own days out to look forward to and it is great for their socialisation. You’ll soon see your dog become familiar with exactly what day of the week it is.

You can read more about how to settle your dog back into a routine here.

Consistency is key

Along with routine, dogs love consistency.

At Bruce’s, every dog attends day care regularly each week.

Whilst we do offer flexibility, we advise keeping your dog’s days the same each week to give them routine, consistency and it means they’ll know the other dogs in their field, forming lifelong furiendships.

This consistency leads to a happy group dynamic.

School snacks

Breakfast, lunch or a tasty snack is a great way to break up the day at Bruce’s.

Your dog is welcome to come along to Bruce’s with some school snacks or meals to enjoy on their own under the supervision of their carers.

Not only is food a helpful tool to encourage doggy downtime but it also encourages some valuable mental stimulation.

Prepare for the cooler months

Soon the weather will be getting cooler and it is a good idea to start preparing your dog for the wetter months.

At Bruce’s your dog will enjoy a warm wash down and towel dry before heading home.

If you haven’t already, it is worth getting your dog familiar with being dried and their paws touched showing them it is a positive experience. You can use treats to help with this.

You may want to start thinking about digging out your dog’s winter coat for the chillier days. Our team can recommend Equafleece.
