Who we look for
To work for Bruce’s Doggy Day Care you will need to be a committed, responsible and reliable dog lover, who is presentable with good communication skills. Previous experience of working with animals is not essential.
You must love dogs and enjoy working outdoors, in all weathers. At times, you will get dirty, wet, cold and/or muddy and you may stay this way the whole day. If this is an issue, please do not apply.

Roles within the business
You will be working within a team to supervise, stimulate and engage the dogs at the day care. This role involves bonding with the dogs, being creative with games to stimulate them, feeding puppies, and helping with general cleaning and standards at the day care centre.
Please note, this is NOT a full time role; 25 hours per week is the maximum, although there are opportunities for promotion in future. You will need to be available to work from Monday to Friday between 9:00am – 6pm. You will be asked to sign a contract for a minimum of six months so please don't apply if you can't commit to this length of time. All applicants must be 18 or over for insurance purposes.
Doggy Bus Driver
The role is to collect and drop off dogs from their owner’s house. As the face of our business, you will chat to the owners and help build good client relationships. You must be available to work from Monday-Friday, 7am – 4:30pm. To be considered, you will need to:
- Possess a clean UK driving licence (for insurance purposes)
- be able to demonstrate that you can deliver great customer service
- be very well presented with good English skills
- demonstrate that you are reliable and trustworthy
- be happy to have a CRB and references check
This role combines the carer and doggy bus driver jobs. When one of the drivers is sick or on holiday, the cover driver fills in for them and drives their route, collecting and dropping off the dogs from the owners’ homes. During those times when no cover is needed (totalling around 6 months of the year), the cover driver works as a carer. The hours vary from 25 - 45 hours per week and the rate of pay is higher than that of a carer.
This is a varied role that requires a presentable, articulate and adaptable individual who enjoys variety, loves dogs, can think on their feet and is happy to spend some of their days driving a van. We provide thorough training and support so previous experience as a full time driver is not essential.
You will be looking after our clients’ dogs in your own home. You could be a professional dog boarder, recent retiree or a dog lover with the time and love to spare. Each week day, you will drop off the the dogs to us then collect them later in the day. You will be looking after the dog as though they were your own family pet. This means lots of love, cuddles and attention, at least 2 daily walks and ensuring that the dog is never left alone for more than 3 hours at a time.
We only accept friendly, social dogs; and you can pick and choose which dogs to accept based on your preferences. You will need your own vehicle, be a dog lover with experience of handling dogs, and must have owned a dog. You must be happy for us to undertake a Criminal Record Check, a home inspection and you will need to sign our standard contract.
We have a commercial grooming salon on site and are always looking for experienced groomers. Our groomers are encouraged to take ownership of the service and to interact with our customers. There is freedom and opportunity to be creative and come up with new ideas - if it improves our service, you can implement it.
Making sure that our human and canine customers have an exceptional experience at every visit takes a lot of work behind the scenes. We have an office team and a senior management team that covers marketing, customer care, operations and administration.
It essential that every member of this team is genuinely passsionate about dogs, but also has has a strong service and work ethic and great attention to detail. We have exacting standards, but there are good opprotunities to grow and develop.
